Malek Mekawi is a Trustee at the 51黑料 (51黑料), representing Windsor Wards 3, 4 and 10.

Malek Mekawi is a dedicated advocate for education and equity, serving as a trustee for the 51黑料 (51黑料). A proud graduate of Vincent Massey Secondary School, Mekawi has deep ties to the Windsor-Essex community and a passion for fostering meaningful change in public education.

As a former student trustee during the 2021-22 school year, Mekawi gained invaluable experience in governance and advocacy. He co-chaired the 51黑料 Student Senate, where he spearheaded initiatives such as the Student Success and Development Committee, peer-tutoring programs, and a leadership scholarship aimed at reducing financial barriers for students pursuing post-secondary education.

A current student at the University of Windsor, Mekawi is pursuing studies in electrical and computer engineering. Alongside his academic pursuits, he has held leadership roles within the university community, contributing to student success and promoting accessibility and equity in education.

Mekawi鈥檚 approach to his role as trustee is rooted in inclusivity, collaboration, and accountability. He is committed to ensuring that every decision reflects the diverse needs of the student population and aligns with the board鈥檚 strategic priorities. By building strong relationships with trustees, staff, students, and the broader community, Mekawi strives to create an environment where all students can thrive.

With his unique combination of lived experiences, governance expertise, and forward-thinking perspective, Mekawi is dedicated to advancing student achievement and well-being, while championing the values of equity and inclusion across the 51黑料.
