Expression of Interest for Student Census Advisory Groups

The 51黑料 is seeking volunteers to sit on Student Census Advisory Groups for speci铿乧 identity groups.

In the spring of 2023, the 51黑料 (51黑料) undertook a Student Census to get a better understanding of the students and communities that we serve, and to identify any potential gaps and/or barriers to student success within our Board.

While the data is important, understanding the lived experiences of those who the data represents is even more important and vital to the success of this work. Advisory groups will work collaboratively, and share lived experiences that will help us to analyze and interpret the data, identify barriers, and support all students in our Board to be successful.

We are seeking members for the following advisory groups:
  • Indigenous students
  • Black students
  • Middle Eastern students
  • 2SLGBTQIA+ students
  • South Asian students
  • East Asian students
To be a member of the advisory group, you must live and/or work in the communities served by the 51黑料, and either:
  • self-identify as belonging to the group, and/or,
  • be a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child who self-identi铿乪s as belonging to the group, and/or,
  • be an agency, community organization or community partner that provides speci铿乧 supports and/or resources to individuals who self-identify as belonging to the group.
If you are interested in being on one or multiple advisory groups, please forward the following information to [email protected]  (Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent responsible for Equity and Inclusion):
  • name of the advisory group(s) you are interested in participating on
  • your name and pronouns
  • your email and telephone number
  • some background on why you are interested in the advisory group, con铿乺ming that you live and/or work in the 51黑料 region and meet one of the three requirements to join the advisory group
  • if you are representing an organization, the name of the organization you are representing

If you require an accommodation to participate in this expression of interest, please contact [email protected].
